'Lalita' Shirt - New with our pattern

Writer: Junita Vave H.Junita Vave H.

I wanted to make something to match with my Sonya shorts and felt like this was the best design to go for. The Sonya shorts has a lot of detailing already and so the shirt to match should not be as loud as the shorts. It's strange to say this because matching prints are loud enough already as it is with the details of the flowers.

Rules of Wearing Print clothes;

- Only wear matching sets if it is in the same fabric.

- Always stick to only two pieces in the same print or a complimenting item within the same colour scheme . Any additional colours that do not match will clash and make you look like a walking ' Christmas Tree'.

- Break the outfit up with something plain if you want to wear only one print item.

The 'Lalita' shirt. Loud and full of colour and tropical flowers just like my friend who I named the shirt after. I love this print full of frangipanis / plumerias, monstera leaves, bamboo leaves and orchids. Below i have teamed up the shirt with a long denim skirt.

Here I have matched this with the Sonya shorts. Us Island girls love our sets and this is just so cute together.

Pattern drafting takes about 30mins, and then another 30mins to transfer it onto fabric, then cut. It is far more rewarding making something from scratch than buying something ready made and mass produced.

'Lalita' collar-less shirt.
