I made this pair of shorts in 2017 while I was still in Abu Dhabi. It has never been worn and is still sitting in my sewing room in the UK collecting dust. 🤣. Yes I am guilty. I have soo many shorts🤪 .This one was another cheap sale purchase from Topshop . I wanted a change from something plain which is why I up-cycled this one. The back pockets were changed with colorful ribbons . These can be found in specialist haberdasheries if you search your local area. I got these from this amazing haberdashery in Dubai. I drove all the way there one morning just to go to this shop because I heard it had the most amazing sewing and craft materials from Pakistan. Everything is cheap and brought in from India and Pakistan.

Here is the finished shorts.

You Will Need :

6 inches Tasseled Ribbon .( need extra allowance for when folding )

5 inches Mirrored Ribbon. pair of shorts of your choice.

Instructions Step 1.

The tasseled ribbon is sewn first - stitched by hand. I’m using 6 inches because of the width of my pockets. You can change it to the width of your pocket but add enough to fold . 1-1.5cm is enough depending on how thick your ribbon is. This thicker the ribbon the more allowance you need for the fold.

Step 2. 5 inches Mirrored Ribbon . This mirrored ribbon is stitched after that above the tasseled ribbon. See pic above .

So much choice. I had to take a photo of this all because it was just too gorgeous not to.
